On Friday, July 16th, at about 4:30pm, Kingman Police detectives arrested Michael John Gibson, 47 of Kingman, on a felony charge of 3rd Degree Burglary. On Thursday, July 15th, officers responded to a reported burglary in progress at a business in the 3000blk of Airway Ave. Officers arrived and discovered a parked vehicle, unoccupied, near where a hole had been cut in the fence. Officers observed items inside the vehicle that appeared to have been taken from the fenced yard. During this time officers were unable to locate anyone in the yard. The truck, which returned registered to Gibson, was impounded as evidence.
On Friday, officers contacted Gibson when he called to report his truck as stolen. Detectives interviewed Gibson, who denied being involved in the burglary. Detectives discovered information linking Gibson to the burglary. Gibson was ultimately booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility.
During a subsequent search of Gibson’s vehicle detectives located methamphetamine, the associated drug paraphernalia, burglary tools and a semi-automatic handgun.
Detectives will be filing additional felony charges of Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Burglary Tools and Weapons Misconduct.
