Attempted Kidnapping

Call posted on

On Monday, April 26th, at about 3:50pm, Kingman Police arrested Marci Jean Herr, 57 of Kingman, on felony charge of Kidnapping/Attempt to Commit.

Officers responded to a gas station in the 3200blk of E. Andy Devine Ave. regarding reports of a woman attempting to “kidnap” a baby. While officers were responding it was reported that the suspect (Herr) was walking away. Upon their arrival, officers located and detained the reported suspect, later identified as Herr. The investigation determined that Herr had confronted the victim, a 28-year-old woman, in the parking lot. The victim had her infant restrained in the back seat of a parked car. Herr attempted to forcibly take the infant, while yelling that the mother was a kidnapper; that she (Herr) worked for the FBI; and that she (Herr) had seen the woman’s face on the front page of the newspaper. The victim, with the help of a witness, was able to resist Herr’s attempts to take the infant. It was apparent that Herr was delusional. Herr was arrested and booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility without incident. No other injuries were reported.
