On Saturday, October 17th, at about 9:00pm, Kingman Police arrested Nathan Thomas Bird, 39 of Kingman, on felony charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Aggravated Assault with Serious Injury. At 8:40pm officers responded to the Kingman Regional Medical Center in regards to a stabbing victim being treated in the emergency department for life threatening injuries. Simultaneously, officers responded to a residence in the 2200blk of Davis Ave. regarding the report of a stabbing having occurred. It was confirmed that these were related. Investigators learned that four adults in the home became involved in a verbal argument amongst themselves that resulted in
Bird and another man, 31 of Las Vegas, getting into a physical altercation. During this
altercation Bird is alleged to have attacked the victim, using a knife in one hand and
scissors in the other, stabbing the victim multiple times in the chest. After the fight, the victim was rushed to the hospital by his girlfriend. While officers were responding to the hospital it was Bird who called police to report the incident at the Davis Ave. residence. The victim subsequently underwent emergency surgery and is currently recovering in KRMC ICU. He is expected to recover.
Investigators believe that alcohol and drug use were involved. Bird, who admitted involvement in the offense, was arrested and booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility. The investigation is ongoing with the possibility of more serious charges being filed.
