Mohave County Sheriff’s Officer Deputies arrested Robert Wayne Romero, 40 of Kingman, for Unlawful Flight from Law Enforcement, Theft of Means of Transportation, all felonies, and two active arrest warrants.
On Tuesday (8/8), deputies were responding to a call of an armed male subject who allegedly threatened another person, and observed a white pickup truck described in the call. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop when the driver failed to stop and continued travelling east. The vehicle continued to make several turns, and then began to travel at a high rate of speed. The pursuit continued onto Stockton Hill Rd. towards Pierce Ferry Rd. Deputies discontinued the pursuit due to the high rate of speed. DPS Ranger helicopter was requested to assist and later advised they had located the vehicle in the area of Diamond Bar Rd. heading towards Grand Canyon West. A short time later, DPS Ranger advised the vehicle had turned around and was heading back towards Pierce Ferry Rd. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Pierce Ferry Rd. and Diamond Bar Rd. and the vehicle failed to stop and continued towards Dolan Springs. The vehicle continued through Dolan Springs, and turned onto Highway 93 towards Kingman. Arizona Department of Public Safety continued the pursuit through Kingman, but discontinued in the area of Gordon and Stockton Hill Rd. During the pursuit, deputies were able to get close enough to identify a single male driver wearing a white shirt and appeared to have a goatee. DPS Ranger helicopter kept a visual and advised the vehicle had stopped at a residence in the 2100 block of Lass Ave. Deputies responded and observed the vehicle unoccupied outside, and began making announcements for the male subject to exit the residence. After several announcements, the male subject exited the residence and was identified as Romero. A records check revealed Romero to have an active arrest warrant and the vehicle involved was stolen. Robert Wayne Romero was arrested and booked into Mohave County Jail.
