Mohave County Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating the death of a Mohave County Jail inmate. Thursday morning (10/25) at approximately 5:30 AM, a Detention Officer found the inmate who had apparently hung himself. The officer called for medical assistance and immediately initiated CPR on the inmate. An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) was deployed as well. Kingman Fire Department and River Medical Ambulance responded to the jail and took over life-saving efforts. The inmate could not be revived and was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 6 a.m.
The investigation this far shows no reason to suspect foul play as the inmate was housed alone in his cell. The Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation and an autopsy will be conducted in the near future. The identity of the inmate will be released once next of kin notifications have been made.
